John DuBois Maritime Museum

The John Dubois Maritime Museum has a large collection of Southern New Jersey Maritime related items from as far back as the 19th. Displayed are tools used to carve ribs, planking, masts and booms. Also exhibited are many blocks, "deadlines" and "rigging." The museum is proud to have on of the largest collections on the East Coast of caulking tools.
John DuBois donated most of our artifacts. Also displayed are early marine engine parts, most from the Hettingers of Bridgeton. Hettingers is one of the first manufacturers in America of marine motors.
Fishing in Cumberland County
Cumberland County, New Jersey is an angler’s paradise.
From Philadelphia, Wilmington, and the New York City area, Cumberland County is just a short drive. It offers a wide range of fishing opportunitiein the Delaware Bay. Whether it is with your own boat or with one of the many charter boat captains, fishing on the Delaware Bay is a great way to spend the day. Two of the more popular places to launch your boat are Fortescue, New Jersey, commonly known as the "Weakfish Capital of the World" and the Port Norris area. Cumberland County hosts the annual weakfish tournament. It draws thousands of participants from around the region.
The Rivers
Cumberland County also boasts two of the finest rivers in the region. The Maurice River is part of the national Wild & Scenic Rivers system. This waterway is home to vast expanses of wetlands, an array of waterfowl, and some great fishing opportunities. The Cohansey River in the western part of the County also provides great fishing experiences and an equally scenic day on the water. These estuarine rivers provide excellent opportunities for fishing, recreating, or just enjoying the sites and sounds of nature.FreshwatersFor fresh water fishing, Cumberland County offers Union Lake. It is the largest man-made lake in the region. The Union Lake Wildlife Management Area provides a large parking lot and public boat launch just off of county Road 608. Also, Menantico Ponds Wildlife Management Area has fresh water fishing, just south of Route 49, also offers excellent fishing and a public boat launch. This secluded series of small lakes and ponds boasts the State record, large mouth bass. Sunset and Mary Elmer Lakes in Bridgeton are other excellent fishing spots.

See the remarkable transformation of hot molten glass into items of great beauty! Watch highly skilled artists employ century-old techniques to create pitchers, bottles, bowls, vases and paperweights. Often, they work with talented contemporary artists on fellowships from the Creative Glass Center of America located at Wheaton Arts & Cultural Center.
Stay as long as you please and talk with the glassblowers about their artistry. Learn how "shaping, blowing, and molding" are performed. You can even discover the secrets of adding color and bubbles.
Open Friday through Sunday in January, February, and March from 10 am to 5 PM. Open Tuesday through Sunday, April through December from 10am to 5pm.Shopping and strolling are free except during special events. General admission discounts are offered to senior citizens and students. Children five and under are admitted free.
The Museum of American Glass
The first successful glass factory in America was in southern New Jersey. The collection chronicles American glassmaking history from the earliest pieces through today's contemporary art glass movement. The museum houses the finest collection of American glass in the country.
The elegant lobby leads into the extensive display of over 6,500 objects. From Mason jars to Tiffany masterpieces, from paperweights to the world's largest bottle, the museum has it all.
Meadow Wood Environmental Sanctuary

Route 49 and Route 671 at Union Road.
At the Meadow Wood Environmental Sanctuary there are many activities for families. You can go canoeing, fishing, birdwatching, nature trailing, and enjoy the wildlife and beautiful scenery.
